ICAR Merit List 2023: Tie-Breaking, Admission Process, Cut-off

ICAR merit list is released by the official conducting authority for the candidates who qualify for the exam. Indian Council of Agricultural Research conducts the exam. Factors Considered for Merit List

ICAR merit list is based solely on the candidate's performance in the entrance examination. Other factors that are not considered while forming the merit list are age, gender, or socio-economic status.

Cut-off Marks 

The ICAR cutoff marks refer to the minimum marks candidates need to qualify for admission. The ICAR merit will be based on the cut-off marks. Additionally, the cutoff marks reserved category and unreserved category will be different.

The guidelines on which the ICAR merit list is determined are as follows:

• ICAR exam difficulty level.
• The total number of candidates who appeared for the ICAR examination.

ICAR Merit List Tie-Breaking Process

Two or more candidates often score the same marks in the examination. Therefore, while preparing the merit list and displaying the same, the authorities consider the tie-breaking criteria. Those are as follows:

• Let's say that two or more candidates receive identical exam results. In that situation, the candidates' exam results in the three main areas of agriculture, biology, and mathematics are considered while compiling the ICAR merit list.
• If there is still a tie, the ICAR will create a merit list using age-based standards. Based on the information about the reservation category provided in the online application form, a rank list will be prepared for each category.
• In addition, the council has a distinct ICAR merit list for each significant academic area. Based on the reservation category that candidates selected on their OMR sheet, the final category-by-category merit list for the ICAR AIEEA is created.
• Based on this ICAR merit list, candidates are contacted for ICAR AIEEA counselling.

ICAR Admission Process

Following the release of the merit list, the application procedure for the various agricultural programmes offered by the ICAR begins. Candidates placed on the merit list must attend the counselling session to submit original documentation and satisfy the admission requirements.

• For admissions, candidates must appear for the ICAR counselling process. 
• The counselling will be held in rounds, and candidates must produce the important documents.
• The list of documents required is as follows:
• Class 12th mark sheet 
• Class 10th mark sheet 
• Character certificate 
• Transfer certificate 
• Category certificate (Original Certificate as per Central Govt. requirements and issued by competent authority), if applicable
• Medical certificate/disability certificate (issued by a Medical officer of any Government Hospital with a description of the kind and the degree of disability), if applicable
• Date of Birth certificate, if the date of birth is not mentioned on the Class 10th mark sheet.
• Admit card
• Counselling invitation letter
• Three recent coloured passport-size photographs 
• Domicile Certificate 
• Authority letter/undertaking if the candidate cannot attend the counselling personally.
• Next, candidates who successfully qualify the round will be called for admission into their desired courses. 

Merit List Updation

The counselling for admission will be conducted in rounds. Therefore, candidates may hold or pass a seat according to their wishes. In addition, if a candidate does not get a seat according to their choice, they can participate in the upcoming counselling rounds. 

Further, the merit list will be updated based on the qualifying parameters. Therefore, candidates can find their names in the updated ICAR merit list.
