Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for admission is mainly the entrance exam that university conducts every year. It also takes in students based on their JEE MAIN score and RPET scores. It is the seat availability which is seen while taking in the students. Presently it in takes about 160 to 180 students in Mechanical Branch. This year it has taken in around 400 students in Computer Science branch alone. I gave RPET entrance examination with a score of 74, ranked 4822 and JEE MAIN with a score of 135 and was admitted in the Mechanical Branch very easily. Even the students with around 8,000 ranks in RPET were taken in. Else than that, the online entrance test is also very easy. The typical cut-off was rank within 7000 to 8000 in RPET, score of 50% to 60% in the online entrance test. At the time of entrance, a refundable caution money of 5000/- is also taken. Also, the original certificates of class 10th and 12th are asked. Scholarships are provided on the base of 12th board marks. 50% scholarship for scoring above 85% in CBSE and above 80% in State Board; 40% for scoring above 80% in CBSE,75% in State Board; 30% for scoring above 70% in both CBSE or State board. An aggregate CGPA of 8.5 has to be maintained every year to keep scholarship preserved, which is quite easy to get by regular students. Tip: Even if you don't get a particular branch n B.Tech., you still have the option to change the branch after 1st year, since the first year has the same syllabus for every branch. Plus, you get a chance to network with more people.
